Help Is On The Way

I have been having anxiety these past weeks due to the pandemic caused by the COVID-19 virus. I know most of us are. Being locked inside my room somehow gives me a feeling of helplessness that I can’t even go out there and help fix the problem. So I asked God what he wants me to do.

I remember a funny story in the Bible when Jesus and his disciples were on a boat on their way to the other side of a lake, and they were met by a storm in the middle of it. Jesus, the Savior of the world, was found in a stern sleeping on a cushion while his disciples were all rattled and spending all their energy trying to manage through the storm and survive.

Finally, the disciples woke Jesus up, which I think was the best thing to do. Mark 4:39-40 tells us that Jesus got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?”

See, fear consumes all our energy trying to find a solution to a problem that is out of our hand in the first place. Faith, on the other hand, gives us an opportunity to rest.

In these uncertain times, I find great comfort in knowing that God is not expecting me to do all the solving. He just wants me to do the trusting. Believing that He remains faithful to his word, even when the situation turns from bad to worse. He said he will come to our rescue. All we have to do is sit on the boat and wait.

Help is on the way.
