For more than two years I worked as a technical support representative for an accounting software company and my job had always been the same: troubleshooting errors with our clients’ software when it stops working properly. I became so good at my job that I could easily find the right tools necessary to address the problem even without looking at the manual. But sometimes there would be emerging issues that could not be resolved from my end so I would have to create an escalation ticket and forward the case to our product developers and software engineers. Since they were the ones who made the product, they sure knew how to fix it when it got broken.
I think over time we can get so good at resolving our own issues in life. We know where to find the right tools to address our pain. We take our own medication. We look for fixes in bars. We hit the gym or buy stuff from the mall or post our best selfie just to make us feel better about ourselves. But deep down you know there’s something in your life that seems to be broken beyond repair. And you could not do anything to resolve it.
Here’s the thing: God is your software engineer. The Psalmist says that God created your inmost being; He knit you together in your mother’s womb (Psalms 139:13). You can turn to Him when your heart is broken. He was the one who made you. He sure knows how to fix you.
